Please join us for the release Atlanta Poets Group Anthology: The Lattice Inside (University of New Orleans Press) which chronicles the group’s work and activities over its 10+ year history.
My husband and I were active members of the Atlanta Poet’s Group from 1999 – 2005ish. I credit my involvement with the [experimental/eclectic] poetry collective for helping me mature and solidify as a poet and performer. I don’t write very often at the moment, but am glad to have still been included in the anthology, since the publication of this book has been years in the making.
The book release party will be held at Poem 88 on Thursday, August 2 at 8 pm, and is free to the public. Poets featured in the anthology may choose to do readings during the event. Copies will be available for sale.
Poem 88 is located at:
1100 Howell Mill Road Suite A03, Atlanta, Georgia 30318
About the Atlanta Poets Group
The Atlanta Poets Group (APG) is a writing and performing collective that has been operating and publishing since 1997 and has included roughly 20 participants. An Atlanta Poets Group Anthology: The Lattice Inside showcases the group’s varied poetic output and practices. Rather than the common “zoo for poets” layout, the book is organized around ‘nodes’— the concepts at the intersections of the APG’s activities— including improvisation, the polyphon, performance, poem-object, lattice, sound and process. More than a mere collection of works, this anthology is a window into the group’s ongoing experiment attempting to replace the poet as individual with the poet as transindividual: “a concept of poetry as a life activity, as a living activity. Poetry is the activity of language as much as it is the poems themselves.”
